Curriculum

At Kilifi International School we have 5 Learning Stages. We offer the following subjects at each key stage:

Key Stage 2: Primary (Years 5-11)

Mathematics, English/English as a Second Language, Global Perspectives, Computing, Music, Art & design, Science, Physical Education, Digital Literacy and PSHE (Personal, social, Health, Education)

Checkpoint Exam is offered at the end of this Key Stage in Year 6 to allow our learners move to the next stage which is Lower Secondary. The following Subjects are examined:

Key Stage 3: Lower Secondary (years 11-14)

 Mathematics, English/English as a Second Language, Global Perspective, Computing, Music/Drama, Art & Design, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Physical Education, Humanities (History ,Geography, Religion), Business (Business studies Economics, Accounting), Digital Literacy and PSHE( Personal ,Social and Health Education)

Checkpoint Exam is offered at the end of this Key Stage in Year 9 to allow our learners move to the next stage which is Upper Secondary. The following Subjects are examined:

Global Perspective is assessed through a research report. This is marked by school teachers and moderated by Cambridge.

Cambridge provides assessment guidance for Art & Design, Computing, Digital Literacy, Music, and Physical Education.

Key Stage 4: Upper Secondary (Years 14-16)

Our students in year 10 and 11 study a minimum of 8 subjects; 3 being compulsory and the other 5 being Electives as indicated below:

Key Stage 5: A- Level (Years 16+)

Students in Year 12 study 4 subjects while those in Year 13 study 3.None of the Subjects is compulsory

In addition to those offered at Key stage 3 and 4 ,Key Stage 5 students can also study Law and Psychology.

Mode of Instructions

Learning takes place through Digital/Electronic presentations, Research and Report writing, Class Discussions, Fieldworks, Practical attachments, Student Exchange Programme.
